Who we are and why we built energy metrics as a service.
Who are the people behind Energy Data?
I am Jan Nagel, founder and managing director of Energy-Data.io. The idea to offer energy metrics as Data-as-a-Service was born in 2018 during a customer workshop break — a question about heating degree days turned into the GRADTAGE prototype and, within weeks, a database and automated services.

Broad network
Energy Data works with energy consultants and experts worldwide, focused on the EU and Germany. We are a partner of the Energy Alliance of the EU Tech Chamber and a member of the Climate Score Organization.
Jan Nagel
Jan was a board member of the Energy Council of the European Technology Chamber. As a TÜV-certified energy management officer and certified project manager (IPMA Level D, Scrum Master, PRINCE2), he leads product and customer methodology.
Karl-Heinz Schulte
Karl-Heinz Schulte supports Energy Data in an advisory capacity with international management experience from operational to CIO level. He is a member of the German Digital Councils and offers C-Level-as-a-Service for transformation projects.
The team
As a young company we keep a small core team and rely on a network of experts and freelancers. The core team includes programming, data analysis, energy and sustainability management, and the management board.
